Chateau Ausone Saint-Emilion (6 bottle OWC) FUTURES 2023 pre-arrival ETA fall 2026

Expert tasting note:

"Deep, dark purple-red color with a purple rim. The complex aromas are a touch meaty with chocolatey notes, dark fruit & cedar. The wine is rich & polished with fresh, soft red-fruit on the attach followed by denser red-plum notes that combine with cedar on the mid-palate. The wine is medium to full bodied with a little alcohol warmth that enlivens exotic notes of vanilla, cedar & cinnamon on the long, juicy redcurrant & raspberry finish." - 04/24 (ep) DCAMW

Critics' Reviews:

- The Wine Independent: 98-100
"A blend of 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot, the 2023 Ausone has a deep garnet-purple color. It is very mute and reticent to show its personality to start, needing a lot of coaxing to reveal intense scents of fresh blackberries, violets, licorice, pencil shavings, and tar. The medium-bodied palate offers wonderful tension and a very long finish, laced with mineral sparkles." (LPB)

- James Suckling: 98-99
"I don't think I have tasted an Ausone like this. The purity of fruit and fluidity is so primary. It's muscular, with toned tannins that caress the palate and give a seamless finish. This really could push the boundaries for the character of Ausone."
