Expert tasting note:
"Medium to deep ruby red color. The aromas are of fresh red fruit, with underlying hints of chalky minerality. The wine has fresh acidity & a classic, firm structure. Rich, ripe red-plum fruit & fresh lifted strawberry notes. Alcohol is balanced & the wine is medium bodied. A long structured finish has toastiness & grip that makes the finish quite angular until delicate red fruits show themselves." - 04/24 ep DCAMW

"The 2024 Smith Haut Lafitte is raw and not fully formed. Today the tannins are imposing. There's good energy and depth in the glass, but the 2024 is very backward. Floral and spice notes emerge with air, but for the time being, Smith Haut Lafitte is a bit of a mystery."
