The Héritage Blanc de Blancs OWC NV cuvée represents the pinnacle of historical craftsmanship at Champagne Pierre Péters. It was created as a single-edition release to celebrate the estate's centenary (1919–2019) and is, quite literally, a living reserve that embodies the family’s history.
A Century in a Single Cuvée
This unique cuvée, released in both bottles (750ml) and a highly restricted number of magnums, is an unparalleled blend of 19 different vintages crafted by four generations of the Péters family.
To create it, Rodolphe Péters delved deep into the family's cellar, incorporating wines dating back to 1921 (the first vintage made by his great-grandfather Camille). Approximately 60% of the blend is composed of wines from 17 historical vintages (including 1947, 1959, 1966, 1985, and 1996). The remaining portion is made up of a magnificent single-vintage reserve: Les Chétillons 2010.
The wine spent an astonishing eight years sur lattes (on the lees) before disgorgement, which imparted incredible complexity, richness, and dimensionality. Critics were unanimous in their praise: William Kelley (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate) awarded it a staggering 99 points, while Vinous scored it 98 points.
The bouquet is complex, mingling notes of ripe citrus, dried white flowers, freshly baked bread, beeswax, and walnut oil. Despite the inclusion of such venerable reserve wines, it remains "strikingly youthful and vibrant," possessing immense reserves of concentration and a powerful, lively chalky extract.
