The Champagne House Pierre Péters has firmly established itself as a benchmark producer of Blanc de Blancs in the region, showcasing exceptional expertise in working with the Chardonnay grape. Located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, the House specializes exclusively in wines made from white grapes harvested from its own Grand Cru parcels.
Grand Cru Terroir and House Philosophy
The history of the House, founded in 1919, traces its roots back to 1840. Today, it is managed by Rodolphe Péters, representing the fourth generation of the family. The winery owns approximately 19 hectares of vineyards situated in key Grand Cru villages, such as Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant, and Avize.
Pierre Péters' philosophy is based on respect for the terroir and the use of the perpetual reserve method (réserve perpétuelle) to create its non-vintage cuvées. This reserve cellar, containing wines from various years, ensures the House's consistent quality and style. For instance, in the flagship Cuvée de Réserve, the proportion of reserve wines can include samples dating back to 1988, 1990, 1993, and 1996.
Exceptional Cuvées and Limited Releases
Among the House's flagship wines, alongside the core Cuvée de Réserve, are prestigious releases that reflect unique terroir and historical heritage:
- Montjolys Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc — "A lovely wine that offers up aromas of freshly baked bread, citrus oil, green apple, warm biscuits and white flowers." by Robert Parker (Wine Advocate).
- Les Chétillons — A vintage cuvée sourced from a single, one of the most famous vineyards in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, known for its minerality and aging potential.
- Héritage Blanc de Blancs OWC NV (Original Wooden Case) — This is a particularly iconic release. Created by Rodolphe Péters to honor the winery's centenary, it is the embodiment of four generations of heritage. It is a concentrated version, blended from 19 vintages, and showcases a unique youth and energy despite the inclusion of such venerable reserve wines. This exceptional Champagne, released in extremely limited quantities (around 1,500 bottles), has garnered high scores, including 98 points from Vinous, for its complexity, tension, and memorable character.
We are proud to offer our clients a wide selection of wines from Pierre Péters—from the benchmark Cuvée de Réserve to the rarest vintage and special cuvées, allowing one to appreciate the full depth and elegance that Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs can yield.
