La ROGERIE Haut du Moulin Tirage 23 Grand Cru NV

La Rogerie Haut du Moulin Tirage 23 Grand Cru NV is a precise, chalk-driven Grand Cru Champagne that captures Avize at its most refined and terroir-focused. It is built as a serious, small-production Blanc de Blancs with depth, tension and a distinctly gastronomic profile.

Site & Identity

La Rogerie is the tiny Champagne domaine of François Petit and Justine Petit-Boxler, working organically across old-vine Grand Cru parcels in Avize and nearby Côte des Blancs sites. Haut du Moulin is one of the domaine’s lieu-dit cuvées from Avize, and “Tirage 23” indicates the release was bottled for tirage in 2023, giving the wine a modern NV format but a clear vintage-based structure. The house is known for long aging, restrained dosage and a style that favors chalk, finesse and layered autolytic complexity over overt richness.

Technical Tasting Note

Appearance: Pale gold with a fine, persistent bead and a bright, crystalline look.

Nose: Lemon peel, green apple, white flowers, crushed chalk, brioche, almond and subtle toasted pastry notes.

Palate: Dry, tightly knit and deeply textured, with citrus brightness, chalky mineral grip and a creamy, lees-derived mid-palate.

Finish: Long, linear and saline, with lasting citrus, chalk and subtle brioche complexity.

Winemaking & Style

The wine is based on 2020–2022 reserve material and was prepared for tirage in 2023, reflecting La Rogerie’s layered reserve approach and commitment to extended lees aging. It is 100% Chardonnay from Grand Cru Avize, handled with the house’s signature restraint: barrel aging, low-intervention cellar work and a focus on purity, tension and precision. The result is a Champagne of shape and detail, with enough richness to satisfy but a clear-cut mineral frame that keeps it elegant and exact.

Buying Outlook

This is an excellent pick for buyers who want serious grower Champagne with real terroir identity and cellar-worthy structure. The combination of Grand Cru Avize fruit, reserve-wine depth and extended lees time makes it especially attractive for collectors, wine bars and restaurants seeking a distinctive Blanc de Blancs with both finesse and substance.

Food Pairing

It pairs beautifully with oysters, scallops, lobster, sushi, sashimi and other refined seafood dishes. It also works very well with roast chicken, veal, creamy sauces, Comté and Parmesan, where its chalky freshness and brioche depth can fully show.
