Bouchard Pere & Fils Batard Montrachet Grand Cru 2010
Bouchard Père & Fils Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2010 is a rich, layered, and ageworthy white Burgundy with the depth and authority expected from one of the Côte de Beaune’s greatest vineyards.
This luxurious Grand Cru wine is a testament to the exceptional terroir of Batard Montrachet. The 2010 vintage offers a complex bouquet of white peach, toasted almonds, and subtle oak. On the palate, the wine is powerful and concentrated, with a creamy texture and balanced acidity leading to a persistent finish.
Vineyard and style
Bâtard-Montrachet sits just below Montrachet on a gentle east-facing slope of deep limestone and gravel soils, producing Chardonnay with breadth, power, and a naturally luxurious texture. Bouchard’s version is typically generous and classical, combining ripe fruit, subtle oak, and strong structure.
Tasting note
Appearance: Pale gold to deep golden straw, with a luminous, mature sheen.
Nose: White peach, apricot, lemon curd, butter, vanilla, toasted hazelnut, brioche, acacia honey, and a flinty mineral note.
Palate: Full-bodied and powerful, with ripe citrus and stone fruit, creamy texture, and a firm but integrated acidity that keeps the wine balanced. The oak is present but well folded in, adding toast and spice rather than dominating.
Finish: Long, complex, and slightly saline, with lingering apricot, citrus peel, buttered toast, and chalky minerality.
Aging and drinking window
The 2010 vintage has the concentration and balance to drink beautifully now, while still retaining enough structure to hold for several more years. It is a wine that benefits from air and is best served in a large glass to let its aromatic layers unfold.
Food pairing
It pairs especially well with lobster, scallops, turbot, rich white fish, Bresse chicken with cream and mushrooms, and roasted poultry. It also works with truffled dishes and refined cream sauces.
