Domaine Dujac Echezeaux Grand Cru 2018
The 2018 Domaine Dujac Echezeaux Grand Cru is a striking representation of this highly-regarded Burgundy terroir. Displaying a deep ruby color, the wine entices with aromas of black cherries, wild strawberries, and violets, accompanied by hints of earth, spice, and licorice. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with layers of dark fruit, velvety tannins, and well-integrated acidity. The finish is long and complex, revealing notes of minerality and oak that add depth and character. This wine has the potential to age gracefully, developing even more complexity over time.
Vineyard notes
- The Grand Cru of Les Échezeaux lies to the west and southwest of the Clos de Vougeot, at the mouth of the Combe d'Orveau valley, where the slope is steep (6.5%). The plot ranges in altitude from 277 to 281 meters. The lieu-dit faces southeast. The reddish-brown soil is 40 to 50 cm thick, with light-colored limestone fragments and chert nodules (chailles). The substratum underlying Les Échezeaux is very probably composed of Premeaux limestone.
