Chateau de Beru Chablis Orangerie 2022
Château de Béru Chablis “Orangerie” 2022 is a single‑parcel, organically farmed Chardonnay from a tiny, walled clos beside the estate’s historic orangerie, a warm, south‑facing garden at the top of the Béru hillside planted on clay and fossil‑rich Kimmeridgian limestone.
This half‑hectare site, enclosed by old castle ramparts and surrounded by fig, apple and ancient pear trees, gives a particularly ripe yet tension‑filled expression of Chablis, combining sensual fruit with pronounced salinity. Fermented in tank and large wooden casks and aged on fine lees before bottling without fining or filtration and only a small sulfur addition, the wine shows a delicate golden hue and an unusually orange‑toned aromatic profile for Chablis, with notes of sweet citrus (orange, mandarin, limequat, grapefruit), starfruit, pear cream, subtle vanilla and a whisper of herbal mountain tea. On the palate it is dry, juicy and vibrant, balancing generous citrus and stone‑fruit richness with energetic acidity and a long, salty, mineral finish, making it an excellent gastronomic white for oysters, shellfish, crayfish, clams, blinis and delicate fish or seafood dishes when served at around 10–12 °C.
