Jean-Yves Peron I Vicini Dolcetto Nero 2023
Vin de la Communaute Europeenne
Jean-Yves Péron I Vicini Dolcetto Nero 2023 is a natural red from Jean-Yves Péron, made from Dolcetto and bottled as a vin de la communauté européenne / Vin de France-style release. It sits at about 13.5% alcohol and is positioned as a bright, aromatic, and characterful Alpine natural wine.
Site & Identity
Jean-Yves Péron is a key natural-wine producer from Savoie/Haute-Savoie, known for low-intervention wines with a distinctly alpine, artisanal profile. The “I Vicini” project uses Italian grape varieties sourced from Piemonte, which gives the wine a transalpine identity and a more Mediterranean-fruited personality than his classic Savoie bottlings.
Technical Tasting Note
Appearance: Deep ruby with a violet edge.
Nose: Dark cherry, blueberry, dried violets and a faint almond note, with a fragrant floral lift.
Palate: Fresh, precise and expressive, with red and dark fruit, fine texture and a bright, energetic feel. Japanese trade notes also point to a concentrated, syrupy red-fruit profile with subtle spice and floral depth.
Finish: Clean, elegant and lightly floral, with rose-like perfume and a persistent, polished aftertaste.
Winemaking & Style
This is a 100% Dolcetto release from Péron’s I Vicini range, with the emphasis on purity, vivid fruit and natural freshness. The style is firmly natural-wine in spirit: aromatic, lightly structured, expressive and not built around heavy extraction or oak.
Buying Outlook
This is a strong choice for customers who like vivid, low-intervention reds with identity and lift rather than power. The wine’s balance of dark fruit, floral aromatics and fresh structure makes it highly attractive for immediate drinking, while its artisan provenance adds collectability within the natural-wine segment.
Food Pairing
It pairs well with charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled pork, mushroom dishes, and lightly spiced Mediterranean food. Its freshness and floral tone also make it a very good match for pasta with tomato sauce, pizza, and aged hard cheeses.
