Chateau de Beru Chablis Montserre Magnum (1.5 L) 2022

Château de Béru Chablis “Montserre” 2022 is a biodynamically farmed, high‑altitude Chardonnay from one of the domaine’s most extreme, wind‑swept parcels at the top of the Béru hill, delivering a powerful yet razor‑fresh Chablis with intense citrus fruit and pronounced salinity.

The Montserre vineyard takes its name from the “serres,” dense superimposed limestone plates that form the bedrock here, with the surface littered by white pebbles; exposed on all four sides to the wind and bordered by a hedge of trees where birds nest, it offers a cool, ventilated microclimate and a rich ecosystem atop classic Kimmeridgian limestone. Crafted from 100% Chardonnay under organic and biodynamic practices by Athénaïs de Béru, the wine shows a bright, intense pale‑to‑golden yellow color and an aromatic profile centered on crisp green apple and lemon peel, joined by notes of orange, orange jam, ginger, toasted grain, iodine and a touch of smoke and sea spray, with discreet, well‑integrated wood. On the palate it “explodes” with fresh fruit, combining precise citrus (fresh orange, lemon, other citrus zest) and orchard‑fruit juiciness with racy, invigorating acidity and a clearly defined salty, oyster‑shell minerality, resulting in a dry, nervous and powerful Chablis that marries energy and finesse and carries a long, persistent finish indicative of strong ageing potential; it is recommended to avoid serving it too cold and, at this young stage, to consider decanting for best expression at around 12 °C.
