Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 'La Croix de Beaucaillou' Saint-Julien 2022
Second label of Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou from separate and distinct vineyard just to the west of the Château. Jade Jagger designed a new label in 2009.
Expert tasting note:
"Deep, dark, black-purple color is not opaque. Lifted leafy hints & some cedary spice & sweet vanillay notes overlay black- cherry fruit on the nose. The palate is initially fresh, showing juicy cassis & elderberry fruit. The tannins close in on the mid palate, giving fine, cedary spices & drying grip. Warming alcohol helps lift exotic spices from the structure. The finish is long with juicy. fresh black-fruit." - 04/23 (ep) DCAMW
Robert Parker The Wine Advocate -
"The 2022 La Croix de Beaucaillou opens in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cigar wrapper and fresh mint, framed by creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy, with a deep core of fruit framed by chunky tannins, it's a blend of 66% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Petit Verdot." - William Kelley (RP 90-92)
