Jacques Lassaigne 'Grain de Beaute' Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV
Jacques Lassaigne “Grain de Beauté” Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV is a highly distinctive, parcel-driven Champagne from Montgueux that combines ripe Chardonnay fruit, chalky precision and real depth. It is one of the estate’s more characterful cuvées, showing both generosity and tension in a dry, mineral style.
Site & Identity
“Grain de Beauté” is sourced from the Les Paulets site in Montgueux, where old Chardonnay vines grow on chalk and clay soils that give Lassaigne’s wines their signature power and mineral backbone. The cuvée is made in very limited quantities and appears as one of the domaine’s occasional, ephemeral bottlings, which adds to its cult appeal among Champagne buyers.
Technical Tasting Note
Appearance: Pale gold with a lively, fine mousse and a bright, polished look in the glass.
Nose: Ripe pear, peach, white flowers, lemon peel, almond, toasted brioche and a distinct chalky mineral note.
Palate: Fresh and vivid on the attack, then broader and more rounded, with ripe Chardonnay fruit, creamy texture, precise acidity and a strong mineral core.
Finish: Clean, dry and persistent, with citrus, pastry and chalk lingering in a long, saline finish.
Winemaking & Style
The wine is 100% Chardonnay and is vinified in barrel, with extended time on lees before disgorgement and no dosage, keeping the style firmly Brut Nature. The result is a Champagne that leans richer and more vinous than many Blanc de Blancs, but still retains the tensile, mineral line that defines Montgueux and Jacques Lassaigne.
Buying Outlook
This is an excellent choice for buyers who want a serious grower Champagne with terroir identity, scarcity and strong gastronomic appeal. Its limited production, old-vine origin and balance of richness and precision make it especially attractive for premium lists and collectors of distinctive Blanc de Blancs.
Food Pairing
It pairs well with oysters, shellfish, roasted poultry, creamy fish dishes, and aged hard cheeses. The wine’s chalky freshness and rounded Chardonnay fruit also make it very strong with mushrooms, risotto and refined celebratory cuisine.
