Annie et Philippe BORNARD, Plou Plou Cuvee Point Barre, Ploussard 2013
Domaine Tony Bornard was formerly known as Domaine Annie et Philippe Bornard.
The 2013 Annie et Philippe Bornard Plou Plou Cuvée Point Barre is a red wine from the Jura region in France, produced by Domaine Bornard, founded by Philippe Bornard and now run by his son Tony Bornard. This wine is made from the Ploussard grape (also known as Poulsard), a native red variety of Jura known for producing light-bodied, fresh, and elegant wines.
Point Barre translates to "full stop," signifying that this wine is 100% Ploussard without any blending. It is crafted using biodynamic and organic practices with natural yeast fermentation and extended aging in large old oak barrels called foudres. The wine typically contains no added sulfites or very minimal amounts naturally occurring.
Tasting notes for wines of this kind often include light, refreshing characteristics with aromas and flavors of wild red berries, subtle floral and herbal notes, light tannins, and bright acidity, making it vibrant and food-friendly. This style is reflective of the Jura terroir and the traditional yet natural winemaking philosophy of the Bornard family.
