Acri Wine Company Cabernet Franc San Diego County 2021
The 2019 Cabernet Franc was a crowd favorite. It was light and elegant with old world charm. 2020 a bigger wine due to the heat spikes. 2021 lies somewhere in between those two vintages. It has the complexity of the 2020 vintage, but the elegant Old World characteristics of the 2019 vintage. It's incredibly aromatic and complex across the palate. This wine is another wonderful example of vintage variation.
Production Notes
The fruit was harvested overnight and brought to the winery while the grapes were still cold. Fully destemmed, pumped over for two day until native fermentation kicked off. Fermentation in small, open-top fermenters. Aged in neutral French oak barrels on their lees for four months and then racked back into barrel for an additional sixteen months of aging before bottling.
Vintage
2021 was relatively consistent with only one notable heat spike across the Southern California region. The vineyards recovered nicely from the tough 2020 growing season.
