Style and terroir
Saint‑Chamant is a Chardonnay specialist based in Épernay, working mainly with old‑vine Chardonnay from Chouilly and surrounding Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites on chalk and limestone. The 2010 Cuvée de Chardonnay spent many years on lees in the estate’s deep underground cellars before disgorgement, building complexity, creaminess and fine mousse.
Tasting profile
Tasting notes describe a pale to medium gold color with very fine, persistent bubbles. The bouquet combines meyer lemon, yellow apple, white flowers and chalk with brioche, warm biscuit and light hazelnut from extended lees aging. On the palate it is medium to full‑bodied and richly textured yet balanced, with lively acidity, mineral backbone, ripe citrus and stone‑fruit flavors, and a smooth, long, elegant finish.
Winemaking and pairing
The wine is vinified as a vintage Brut Blanc de Blancs, fermented and matured traditionally with an emphasis on long lees aging rather than high dosage. It pairs particularly well with refined dishes such as oysters and shellfish, butter‑poached fish, lobster, or poultry in cream or truffle sauces, where its richness and tension can both shine.
