La ROGERIE Le Bourg Nord NV
La Rogerie Le Bourg Nord NV is a Grand Cru Champagne that expresses Avize’s northern terroirs with precision, tension and very fine chalk-driven definition. It is a serious, boutique Blanc de Blancs with the kind of depth, maturity and reserve that make it compelling both for immediate drinking and cellar release.
Site & Identity
La Rogerie is the small Champagne domaine created by François Petit and Justine Petit-Boxler, working organically across old-vine Grand Cru parcels in the Côte des Blancs, especially Avize. The “Bourg” range is the house’s reserve-perpetual cuvée from Avize; “Nord” refers to the north-facing terroirs around Avize and Cramant, which naturally emphasize cut, minerality and a more crystalline expression than the south side.
Technical Tasting Note
Appearance: Pale gold with a fine, luminous bead and a chalky, restrained visual profile.
Nose: Lemon zest, green apple, white flowers, crushed chalk, brioche, subtle toast and a cool mineral edge.
Palate: Dry, tightly knit and finely textured, with concentrated citrus fruit, saline chalkiness, understated creamy depth and very precise acidity.
Finish: Long, clean and persistent, leaving citrus peel, chalk and subtle autolytic notes with excellent tension.
Winemaking & Style
Le Bourg Nord is a Blanc de Blancs based on Chardonnay from old Grand Cru parcels in Avize and Cramant, built with reserve wines in a perpetual system. The estate works with long aging on lees, barrel maturation and restrained dosage, aiming for a Champagne that is layered, tactile and mineral rather than overtly fruity. It is a style that combines ripe Côte des Blancs fruit with precision, finesse and a distinctly gastronomic frame.
Buying Outlook
This is a strong buy for customers who want a serious grower Champagne with real terroir identity and Grand Cru pedigree. The wine’s reserve-perpetual structure, low-intervention approach and chalk-driven intensity make it especially attractive for collectors and restaurants looking for a Champagne with both nuance and substance.
Food Pairing
It works beautifully with oysters, scallops, sashimi, lobster, roast chicken, and refined seafood dishes. Its chalky precision and creamy depth also make it excellent with Parmesan, Comté, creamy poultry dishes and elegant canapés.
