Bretaudeau Domaine de Bellevue “Statera” Pinot Noir 2021 is a cult, single‑parcel Loire Pinot Noir (Vin de France) that aims for grand‑cru‑level finesse, with remarkable silkiness, purity and length.
Terroir and viticulture
Statera 2021 is 100% Pinot Noir from a 0.5‑ha parcel planted in 2005 on granite with pink and white quartz in the western Loire (IGP Val de Loire / Vin de France). The estate is certified organic and biodynamic (Biodyvin), with low yields and meticulous hand work to maximize concentration and energy.
Winemaking
Grapes are fully destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, with a gentle 12‑day maceration/infusion to favor finesse over extraction. The wine then ages 10–14 months in older 400‑liter oak barrels that have seen several wines, and it is bottled unfined and unfiltered with only a light sulphur addition at bottling.
Tasting profile (2021)
Tasting notes describe a light to medium ruby color. The nose leads with red fruits (wild strawberry, raspberry, cranberry, cherry), floral notes (violet, rose), and subtle spices and herbs. On the palate the wine is silky and elegant, with fine‑grained tannins, bright but balanced acidity, very pure red‑berry fruit and impressive persistence for its weight, finishing long on red fruit and delicate floral and mineral nuances.
Character and food pairing
Commentators emphasize that Statera 2021 rivals top Côte de Nuits wines in refinement while retaining a cool, Loire freshness and drinkability. It is highly food‑friendly, working beautifully with roast white meats, braised dishes, meaty fish (like tuna or salmon), charcuterie and red‑sauce or mushroom‑driven plates that echo its red‑fruit and subtle earthy complexity.
