Chateau Clinet Pomerol (Minimum order: 6 bottle case) FUTURES 2025 Pre-Arrival
Château Clinet Pomerol 2025 is a serious, high-quality release: concentrated, refined and more tensile than many recent vintages, with the estate’s signature richness kept in check by fresh structure. The strongest published notes place it among the top wines of the vintage, with a long drinking window and clear cellar potential.
Critic tasting notes: (2025 vintage)
"Deep in color, the wine exudes aromas of licorice, flowers, black cherries, espresso, plums, herbs, and chocolate with a single swirl. The palate is even better, with waves of opulent, lush, soft, polished, expressive, and fresh fruit. The balance among depth, sweetness, flesh, and lift is exactly where it needs to be. The finish is defined by the intensity of the vibrant fruit on the palate, depth of flavor, and purity. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14% ABV, 3.65 pH. Harvesting took place September 4 September 17. This is the earliest harvest in the history of the estate. Yields were 34 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2029-2060." - Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider (97/100)
"A composed, well-structured and precise Pomerol showcasing red berries and baking spices on the nose. Full-bodied with plush tannins and fresh acidity. There is energy at the center despite the solid frame of tannins shaping the midpalate. Focused and driven finish." - James Suckling (94-95/100)
"Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Black berry fruit, nuances of precious wood, delicate hints of cassis, a hint of cloves. Powerful, tightly woven, some vanilla and nougat, ripe tannins, sticks well, salty touch on the finish, mineral aftertaste." - Falstaff (94/100)
Style and Blend
The 2025 wine is reported as 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, with an earlier-than-usual picking date and less obvious oak influence than in some past vintages. That gives the wine a profile of cedar, dark berries, spice and fresh licorice, while other notes highlight violets, smoky tobacco, chocolate and a ripe red-blue-black fruit spectrum. It appears to balance Pomerol’s usual depth and generosity with more line and precision than expected.
Tasting Profile
-
Nose: Cedar, dark berries, spice, licorice, violets, tobacco and chocolate.
-
Palate: Medium- to full-bodied, dense and layered, with chiselled fine tannins and a more tensile frame than usual.
-
Finish: Long, perfumed and crystalline, with strong focus and persistence.
Cellar Potential
Critics suggest this is a wine that will benefit from bottle age before showing at its best, with a drinking window from about 2032 to 2058. In style, it reads as a classic modern Clinet: plush enough to be immediately appealing, but structured enough to reward patience.
Food Pairing
This should work very well with roast lamb, beef, duck, venison, truffle dishes and slow-cooked mushroom-based plates. Its combination of ripe fruit and fine tannins also makes it a strong match for rich, savory cuisine rather than delicate dishes.
PRESENTATION
Blending elegance and intensity, Château Clinet is now universally acclaimed as one of the most prestigious wines in the world.
TERROIR
Formerly attached to the wines of Saint-Émilion, Pomerol has managed to gain its own nobility since 1936, when it obtained its AOC status (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée). Covering an area of less than 800 hectares, it is the smallest of the major wine regions in Bordeaux. Pomerol is also the only one of the major appellations in the region that has never been classified hierarchically. Situated on the Right Bank of the Dordogne, the climate is warmer there than in the Médoc (Left Bank) and the soil is cooler and more humid.
WINEMAKING
Manual sorting. Gentle crushing. Stainless steel tanks, adapted to Clinet's plots. Thermoregulation system for honeycomb and adjustable tanks. Manual punching.
AGEING
60% new barrels, 40% barrels of a wine, for 16 months.
VARIETALS
Merlot 80%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20%.

TASTING
"The Château Clinet 2025 reveals a deep, dense and shiny ruby robe. Its nose, particularly expressive and intensely fruity, unveils notes of wild strawberry, Morello cherry, plum, blackberry and blackcurrant. On the palate, the texture is velvety and ample, carried by an aromatic framework blending ripe fruits, spices and pastry nuances. The 2025 vintage fully expresses its character: full, intense and deep." — Ronan Laborde, manager
