Critic tasting note: (2025 vintage)
"Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Floral nuances, dark forest berries, smoky notes, underlaid with blackberries and cassis. Juicy, elegant, extra-sweet core, ripe tannins, sticks well, a hint of nougat on the finish, good length, definite ageing potential." - Falstaff (96/100)
"With just a swirl, you find blackberries, espresso beans, cigar box, cassis, smoke, and licorice in the compelling aromatic profile. The palate is packed with soft, creamy, vibrant fruits, silky tannins, and polish, finishing with a big, chewy mouthful of sweet ripe, black fruits, and a refreshing touch of minty herbs that seals the deal in the finish. Drink from 2032-2065." - Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider (96/100)
"Dark ripe fruit and a touch of licorice on the nose. Medium- to full-bodied with a firm tannic structure on the palate, showing dark fruit, chocolate and walnut flavors.86% cabernet sauvignon, 12% merlot and 2% cabernet franc." - James Suckling (95-96/100)
Site & Identity
Léoville Barton 2025 comes from the deep gravel and clay soils of Saint-Julien, an appellation celebrated for its balance between Pauillac power and Margaux finesse. In 2025, extremely low yields around 22 hl/ha and a very dry growing season produced small, perfectly ripe berries with intense color and tannin, resulting in a wine of notable density, purity and terroir expression. The style is vertical, cool and controlled rather than opulent, appealing strongly to purists who seek classical Left Bank character with extra concentration and drive.

-
Finish: Long, saline and focused, with notes of crushed raspberry, cherry, vanilla and tobacco, carried by a cool line of acidity and superb structural length.
Winemaking & Style
Château Léoville Barton 2025 is a blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, harvested between 4 and 18 September and matured in 60% new French oak. Alcohol sits at about 13–13.5%, allowing the low-yield, concentrated fruit and the Saint-Julien terroir to show with clarity rather than heaviness. Early en primeur impressions compare it to the estate’s great 2016, highlighting its dark profile, linear structure and precisely sculpted tannins as hallmarks of a truly serious, long-lived Léoville Barton.
Food Pairing
Excellent with ribeye or côte de boeuf, roast lamb, venison, game birds, truffled dishes and mature hard cheeses. Its structure and freshness make it particularly well suited to cellaring for future gastronomic occasions where depth, complexity and classical Left Bank elegance are essential.
