2025 Denis Dubourdieu Château Doisy‑Daëne “L’Extravagant de Doisy‑Daëne” (Barsac, Futures) is an ultra‑concentrated, 100% Sauvignon Blanc noble‑rot sweet wine, produced only in exceptional vintages and already hailed as one of the stars of 2025 Sauternes–Barsac.
Cuvée concept and vintage context
L’Extravagant is a tiny‑production cuvée made exclusively from botrytised Sauvignon Blanc on Doisy‑Daëne’s limestone‑rich Barsac terroir, intended as the estate’s most opulent and refined expression (often likened to Barsac’s answer to Yquem). The 2025 Bordeaux vintage delivered very clean, concentrated noble rot after late rain, giving Sauternes and Barsac sweet wines with high sugar (often 145–158 g/l+) yet remarkable freshness and energy.
Grape and winemaking details
For 2025, multiple sources list the wine as 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Berries are picked in multiple strict passes only at peak botrytis; L’Extravagant is vinified and aged in French oak barriques, with a high proportion of new wood, to support its enormous concentration and aging potential.
Tasting profile (barrel sample)
A leading early note describes the 2025 L’Extravagant as “fabulous,” offering an exotic mix of tangerine confit, candied ginger, marzipan, passion fruit and a kiss of new wood. Expect a very luscious, nectar‑like texture with great purity, intense sweetness balanced by vivid acidity and a crystalline, lifted finish that keeps the wine from feeling heavy.
Structure, aging and serving
Tech sheets and merchant notes frame the style as “honey, nectar & sweet” yet finely etched, with alcohol around 14% and a recommended drinking window roughly from 2028 through 2060. L’Extravagant is best served well chilled (around 9–10°C) with foie gras, blue cheeses, or intensely flavored fruit and citrus‑based desserts, but it can also shine on its own as a meditative end‑of‑meal wine.
