Domaine Bernard-Bonin Bourgogne Blanc Initiales B.B. 2023
Formely known as Domaine Michelot Mere et Fille.
Domaine Bernard‑Bonin Bourgogne Blanc Initiales B.B. 2023 is a seriously crafted, terroir‑driven Chardonnay that acts as a “baby Meursault,” made with virtually the same care and philosophy as the domaine’s village and cru wines.
Origin and winemaking
The fruit comes from plots around Meursault (Les Coutures, Murgey de Limozin, Les Millerands), all farmed organically and essentially biodynamically. Grapes are hand‑harvested, gently pressed over about 2.5 hours, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and aged 15–18 months in oak (largely older barrels), with no added enzymes, no fining and no filtration.
Tasting profile (2023)
Descriptions of the 2023 release highlight a pale‑gold color with silver reflections and fine, regular tears in the glass. The nose is expressive but precise, showing white flowers, citrus, crisp orchard fruit, chalky minerality, almond and a light buttery note. The palate is lively and pure, combining juicy fruit with saline tension, supple texture, well‑integrated acidity and a long, clean, slightly hazelnut‑ and lemon‑zest‑tinged finish.
Positioning and aging
Initiales B.B. sits at the top end of the Bourgogne Blanc category and often limited to one bottle per customer. Cellaring potential is about 3–7 years; most sources suggest an ideal drinking window from roughly 2026 through 2030 for maximum complexity while retaining freshness.
