Domaine David Duband Coteaux Bourguignons Blanc 2023 is a fresh, mineral, and elegantly aromatic Chardonnay from old vines near Chevannes in the Côte de Nuits. It is an accessible but serious white Burgundy, with bright fruit, fine acidity, and a clean, savory finish.
Vineyard and winemaking
The grapes come from a parcel close to the estate in Chevannes, with vines now over 50 years old. Harvest is by hand, with sorting and gentle pressing. After settling, the wine is vinified and aged in barrels that are between 1 and 5 years old, giving subtle texture without overt oak. The 2023 is 100% Chardonnay, around 12–12.5% alcohol, and is meant to be drunk young but has enough structure to age a few years.
Tasting note
Appearance: Pale straw to light gold, bright and clear.
Nose: Fresh white fruit (apple, pear), citrus zest, delicate floral notes, and subtle hints of butter, honey, and light toast.
Palate: Sappy and light to medium-bodied, with crisp acidity, delicate white fruit, and a fine mineral edge. The texture is clean and precise, with a touch of bitter almond and a savory, herbal close.
Finish: Fresh, slightly bitter, and persistent, with lingering citrus and mineral notes.
Style and drinking window
This is a classic, entry-level Duband white: pure, mineral, and elegant rather than rich or overtly oaked. It is ready to drink now and should hold well through the end of the decade with proper storage.
Food pairing
It works very well with butter-poached white fish, creamy sauces, salty green vegetables, roast chicken, and fresh goat cheese. It is also a good match for simple seafood, salads, and light poultry dishes where freshness and minerality can shine.
