Domaine Jean-Jacques CONFURON Chambolle-Musigny 2021
2021 Domaine Jean‑Jacques Confuron Chambolle‑Musigny is an elegant, village‑level Pinot Noir from three small parcels in Chambolle‑Musigny, showing the domaine’s refined, terroir‑driven style with a focus on purity and finesse.
Terroir and origin
The cuvée blends fruit from Pas de Chat (0.31 ha) and Derrière le Four (0.21 ha) in the southern part of the village, plus Les Condemennes (0.63 ha), giving just over 1.1 ha in total. Soils are predominantly brown limestone with plenty of stones and sand, which promotes excellent drainage and results in fine, aromatic tannins and lifted red‑fruit character.
Winemaking
The wine is 100% Pinot Noir, hand‑harvested and vinified in the classic Confuron style aimed at clarity of fruit rather than extraction. Fermentation and élevage (in oak barrels with a measured proportion of new wood) are designed to preserve elegance, minerality and Chambolle’s signature floral profile.
Tasting profile (2021)
Descriptions of the 2021 vintage emphasize a poised, medium‑bodied wine with bright, precise fruit. Expect aromas of red cherry and raspberry, violet and rose, subtle spice and a fine chalky note. The palate is silky and fresh, with juicy red berries, refined tannins, lively acidity and a long, graceful finish that leans more toward delicacy than power.
Aging and food pairing
This Chambolle‑Musigny is approachable in youth but will benefit from a few years of bottle age; many merchants position 2021 for drinking roughly 2025–2032. It pairs particularly well with dishes that mirror its finesse: roast chicken, duck breast with cherries, veal, or earthy but not overly heavy mushroom dishes.
