Guffens-Heynen Bourgogne Blanc “Jeunes Vignes et Derniers Jus” 2024 is a bright, highly expressive Chardonnay that overdelivers with energy, precision and real Bourgogne class. It is an accessible but still serious white Burgundy, built from young vines and the final pressings of older parcels, giving it both freshness and depth.
The cuvée is assembled from young vines in Chavigne/Pierreclos and the last presses from older vines and top Mâconnais terroirs such as Saint-Véran and Pouilly-Fuissé. Jean-Marie Guffens’ approach in 2024 was to keep the wine accessible and charming in youth while preserving the domaine’s trademark mineral drive and concentration.
Appearance: Bright golden straw with scintillating reflections and a luminous look in the glass.
Nose: Honeysuckle, pear, peach, white flowers, citrus peel, quince, candied orange, fresh cream, roasted hazelnut and a chalky mineral nuance.
Palate: Vibrant, elegant and sapid, with a round but dynamic texture, ripe white and yellow fruit, citrus tension and a clean mineral backbone.
Finish: Long, bright and crystalline, with citrus, white pepper, saline lift and a persistent chalky echo.
In 2024 the cuvée was made entirely from Chardonnay and vinified mostly in cement vats, with no oak used for this wine. The idea is purity: first presses from young vines plus last presses from older vines, fermented and aged for about 16 months in concrete to keep the fruit clean, tactile and precise. It is a benchmark entry-level Guffens wine—generous, mineral and impeccably balanced.
This is a very smart buy for customers who want serious white Burgundy character without moving into the most expensive tier. It offers immediate appeal, strong food compatibility and enough structure to age a few years, while also carrying the prestige of one of the Mâconnais’ most respected domaines.
It pairs beautifully with sole meunière, cod with citrus, mussels, shellfish, roast chicken and creamy poultry dishes. It also works very well with asparagus, fennel, lightly spiced seafood and fresh goat cheese.
