Jacques Lassaigne Coteaux Champenois Blanc 2022

Jacques Lassaigne Coteaux Champenois Blanc 2022 (Haut Revers du Chutat) is a rare still Chardonnay from Montgueux in Champagne, combining chalk‑driven tension with great finesse and aging potential.

Style and terroir

This is a still white (not sparkling), made from old‑vine Chardonnay planted in 1968 on a south‑facing chalk hill in Montgueux, south of Troyes. The terroir is often compared to top Chablis, giving pronounced mineral cut, saline notes and high natural acidity.

Tasting profile

The color is pale yellow with golden reflections. The nose shows lemon zest, white flowers, fresh almond, white‑fleshed fruit and wet chalk, sometimes with a hint of hazelnut and brioche complexity as it ages. The palate is pure, linear and very precise: bright citrus and stone fruit, crystalline minerality, saline freshness, and a long, finely chiselled finish.

Vinification and character

Each parcel is vinified separately with native yeasts, then matured in old vats and one large 500‑liter barrel for around 22 months, bottled without fining or filtration. The result is an elegant, complex gastronomic white that behaves more like top Burgundy than typical Champagne, excellent as an aperitif or with refined seafood and shellfish.
