Jacquesson Extra Brut Avize Grand Cru 1996
Robert Parker The Wine Advocate
Tasted several times. Just a brilliant 1996 from Jacquesson. Like Salon, it is very backward and citrus on the nose, perhaps frustratingly primal and minerally but with superb definition. The palate is very concentrated and steely, with notes of fresh green apples, lemon and a little kiwi fruit. Superb acidity and balance. A crisp, minerally finish. If Anne-Claude Leflaive made a sparkling wine it would be like this. Thus far, the only champagne used for carnal purposes. Tasted March 2006. - Reviewed by: Neal Martin
