Piper-Heidsieck Rare Brut Rose Millesime 2008

Historically this champagne was called Piper-Heidsieck Rare.

Critic tasting note:

"Bright light pink colour with a copper hue and fine stream of small bubbles. The nose exhibits fine notes of hazelnut, light toast, raspberry, peach and fresh butter and brioche, fine combination of pure vivid fruit and autolytic complexity. The palate offers a great bite with seductive fruit like crushed apricot, raspberry, ginger with a supple creaminess and invigorating acidity, mouthwatering and persistent flavours with plenty of layers and a long sexy finish." - 95/100, Andreas Larsson - Tasted

Robert Parker The Wine Advocate

The 2008 Brut Rosé Cuvée Rare is the second rendition of this cuvée ever produced, and the wine is showing very well, unwinding in the glass with a youthfully shy nose featuring white cherries, blood orange, Meyer lemon, honeysuckle and dried white flowers that offers the promise of considerable complexity to come. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, racy and tight-knit, with good concentration, beautifully integrated acids and a fine mousse, concluding with a long, saline and delicately phenolic finish. This is really quite reserved after its recent disgorgement but should develop beautifully with a few years on cork. - Reviewed by: William Kelley
