Ruelle-Pertois is a family-owned grower-producer based in Moussy, between the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. Founded by Michel Ruelle and Martine Pertois, the estate is now run by their children and is known for its Champagnes that emphasize freshness, minerality and terroir expression.
The estate owns approximately six hectares of vineyards, anchored by Grand Cru holdings in Chouilly, Cramant and Oiry. For decades, the family has sold most of its wine to longtime local customers and restaurants, making its bottles rarely leave France—a true hidden gem of the region.
The Éclat d’Or is built around Pinot Meunier, the signature grape of the Vallée de la Marne, complemented by Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The base wine comes largely from the excellent 2020 vintage, with 30% reserve wine from earlier years adding depth and continuity.
The blend draws on the estate’s holdings across the Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs, giving the wine both the generosity of Meunier and the mineral tension of Chardonnay. The result is a Champagne whose colour, aromatics and texture punch far above its category.
The Éclat d’Or is composed of approximately 70% wine from the 2020 vintage, complemented by 30% reserve wine from earlier years. The wine spent about four years sur lie before disgorgement in 2025.
A modest 7 g/l dosage was added at disgorgement—just enough to round out the wine’s incisive mineral spine without dulling its vibrancy. The result is a Champagne that is rich and layered, yet precise and energetic.
The Éclat d’Or opens with layers of orchard and red fruits, brioche, citrus and chalk, unfurling slowly with an almost Grand Cru-like finesse. On the palate, the wine is generous and fruit-forward, with a creamy texture and a sustained mineral finish.
The finish lingers on and on, with a balance of ripe fruit, fine mousse and chalky minerality that makes the wine both approachable and compelling. Its colour, aromatics and texture suggest a Champagne of far greater pedigree than its modest price would suggest.
Aroma and flavour: orchard fruit, red fruit, brioche, citrus, chalk, ripe apple, pear, red cherry, toasted lees and subtle mineral notes.
Palate: light- to medium-bodied, generous and creamy, with vibrant acidity, fine mousse, layered fruit and a long, mineral finish.
Style: a rich, terroir-driven Meunier-led Champagne—generous and fruit-forward in youth, with the mineral tension and finesse to develop over time.
The Éclat d’Or is approachable on release but benefits from a short period of cellaring. Its four years of lees ageing and multi-vintage blend give it the balance to develop gracefully over the next few years.
Serve it cool at 8–10°C and allow it time in the glass to reveal its full aromatic complexity and mineral depth.
Serve at 8–10°C with waffled potato blini with smoked salmon, roast chicken, duck, pork, charcuterie or mushroom-based dishes. Its acidity and fine mousse also suit semi-aged cheeses such as Comté, Beaufort or young goat’s cheese.
The wine’s generosity and fruit-forward profile make it particularly well suited to richer, more savoury dishes, where its mineral spine and creamy texture can shine.
This is a rare, Meunier-led Champagne from a family-owned grower-producer whose bottles rarely leave France. The Éclat d’Or is produced in limited quantities, and its four years of lees ageing, multi-vintage blend and modest dosage make each release distinctive.
The combination of Ruelle-Pertois’s reputation, the Vallée de la Marne terroir and the freshness of the 2020-based blend makes this a compelling choice for collectors seeking age-worthy, terroir-driven Champagne with long-term development potential.
Recommended serving: open and allow 30–60 minutes in a large white-wine glass before serving at 8–10°C to reveal its full aromatic complexity and mineral depth.
