"Pierre Peters L'Etonnant Monsieur Victor Edition MK12 Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru 2012

The 2012 Pierre Peters L'Etonnant Monsieur Victor Blanc de Blanc Grand Cru is a stunning example of 100% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru vineyards. The enticing nose reveals white flowers, citrus, green apple, and a subtle brioche note. On the palate, this wine displays a harmonious balance of fruit flavors, lively acidity, and a refined mousse. With its long, memorable finish, this wine is a fantastic choice for special occasions and will be appreciated by wine aficionados.

Producer Notes

A very Rare Champagne coming from the best fruit from the Grand Cru vineyard “Les Chétillons” in the Cote de Blancs from the village of Le-mesnil-sur-oger with a unique story. The Cuvée “L’étonnant Monsieur Victor” (“The Surprising Mister Victor”) champions their son, Victor, for his passion of art and painting. Inspired by the Japanese Neo-pop artist and painter Takashi Murakami and 19th Century biblical painting “Caïn Fleeing with his Family” by Fernand Cormon, Victor chose to add his own twist of Cormon with Manga graphics and Pop Art style vivid and acid colors, soon after, creating several more energetic and fun pieces known as the MK series.

Producer tasting notes: (2012 vintage)

"The robe is clear yellow gold with hints of green which are typical of the Chardonnay varietal. The mousse is fine and regular with a pretty ribbon of strong bubbles. Strong and elegant. The attack is finesse, complexity and power with a wide range of aromas. First with acacia, hawthorn and peach, the nose then evolves to orange zest, pear and almond milk. Once aerated, the first notes of spice (gingerbread) and dried flowers appear before to make way to a creamy chalkiness. The attack is very pure. A sensation of smoothness and strength follows. Aromatics of ripe dried fruit such as tangerine, apricots and hazelnut along with sweet flowers and toasty notes. The steely core fails to conceal the concentration and complexity which promises to evolve over many of aging." - Champagne Pierre Peters

Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) -

"Why has the non-vintage concept largely been reserved to entry-level wines?" pondered Péters, and he decided to produce a new cuvée to change that. Based on the 2012 Les Chétillons and supplemented by wine from the family's long-established perpetual reserve, the NV L’Étonnant Monsieur Victor Edition MK 12 is the latest rendition, and it's showing very well, opening in the glass with aromas of lemon oil, warm bread, white flowers, crushed chalk, oyster shells and wheat toast. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with superb concentration, racy acids and a precise, intensely saline finish."
