Chateau de Beru Chablis Clos Beru Monopole 2021
Château de Béru Chablis “Clos Béru” Monopole 2021 is the estate’s flagship, single‑vineyard Chablis from a four‑hectare walled clos, a historic monopole first planted by Cistercian monks in the 12th century and today farmed organically and biodynamically on pure Kimmeridgian limestone at about 250 meters altitude.
Enclosed by 13th‑century stone walls and facing mainly south, the Clos benefits from exceptional light and protection, giving particularly powerful, round and intensely mineral wines that stand out within the domaine’s range. Vinified from 100% Chardonnay with manual harvests, low yields of roughly 35–45 hl/ha, native‑yeast fermentations and minimal intervention, the 2021 Clos Béru is described by the domaine and specialist merchants as a “grand vin naturel de Bourgogne,” combining great depth with tension. In the glass, Clos Béru typically shows a pale to medium lemon color and a concentrated nose marked by ripe citrus and stone fruits (lemon, lime, sometimes riper yellow fruit), white flowers and a strong impression of chalk and oyster‑shell minerality; these traits are cited as signatures of the site rather than vintage‑specific fantasy. On the palate, it is dry, full and structured for Chablis, with generous, rounded fruit and a dense, saline core carried by fresh acidity, delivering a long, mouth‑watering finish defined by limestone minerality and impressive length, which is why this cuvée is repeatedly highlighted as powerful, layered and capable of extended aging.
