Château La Clotte, Saint Emilion, Grand Cru Classe 2018

Chateau La Clotte Saint Emilion 2018 is a remarkable wine from this renowned estate. With its deep ruby color, it offers an enticing bouquet of ripe blackberries, plums, and a touch of spice. On the palate, it reveals a harmonious blend of luscious fruits, well-integrated tannins, and a hint of oak. This vintage showcases the elegance and finesse of Chateau La Clotte, with a long, satisfying finish. In its generous 1500ml format, it is perfect for special occasions and collectors.

Critic tasting note: (2018 vintage)

"Aromas of dried flowers, blackberries and cherries with hints of spices. Currants, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Fine tannins at the end. Drink after 2023." - James Suckling

"This estate is continuing its rise under the tutelage of the Vauthier family of Château Ausone. With firm tannins, dark black fruits, smoky flavors and touches of spice, the wine will need time. Drink from 2026. Roger Voss" - Wine Enthusiast

"Aromatically, the wine grabs you with notes of flowers, thyme, licorice, kirsch, espresso and cherries. Medium/full-bodied, silky, fresh and pure, you find depth of flavor, minerality, lush palate textures, vibrancy, length and loads of crushed rocks in the finish. 94 Points" - Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

Producer Notes

Acquired in 2014 by the Vauthier family, Château La Clotte is a small vine garden of four hectares located behind the ramparts to the south of Saint-Émilion. La Clotte is a building nestled against the cliff face with deep quarry labyrinths beneath its vineyard. The vineyard has been thought through plot by plot to reveal the richness of its eleven plots. The cellar is dug into the rock and ensures ideal conditions for aging.
