Chateau Marjosse Blanc 2019
Château Marjosse Blanc 2019 is a fresh, aromatic Bordeaux white with a surprisingly generous, textured palate. It shows citrus and exotic fruit alongside a bright, dry finish, making it a polished and very drinkable Entre-Deux-Mers white.
Critic tasting note:
"Flowers, waxy lemon, dried pineapple and a bit of pomelo create the core of this fresh, forward, early-drinking, charmer. The wine finishes with a nice touch of sweet, lemons. Drink from 2022-2027. 90 Points" - Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider (90/100)
Blend & Style
The 2019 blanc is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle, and it sits at 13% alcohol. The style is classic Marjosse: bright, complex and quite rounded for the category, with good length and a fresh, mouthwatering close.
Tasting Note
Color: Brilliant light straw to pale gold.
Nose: Grapefruit, lemon, mango, pineapple, pear and white peach.
Palate: Fresh and surprisingly full, with ripe fruit, good volume and a dry, balanced profile.
Finish: Long, precise and clean, with enough tension to keep the wine energetic.
Buying Outlook
This is a strong value white Bordeaux from Pierre Lurton’s home estate, and the 2019 vintage was shaped by a dry growing season after spring frost pressure. It is best viewed as an immediately enjoyable, food-friendly white rather than a cellaring wine, though it has enough structure to hold for a few years.
Food Pairing
It pairs well with oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, goat cheese, sushi and poultry with light cream or citrus sauces. The ripe fruit also makes it comfortable with mildly spiced dishes and Mediterranean vegetables.
