Domaine Bernard-Bonin Meursault Clos du Cromin 2023

Formely known as Domaine Michelot Mere et Fille.

Domaine Bernard-Bonin Meursault Clos du Cromin 2023 is a dry white Burgundy from Meursault in the Côte de Beaune, produced from Chardonnay. The grapes come from the Clos du Cromin lieu-dit, a south to south‑east facing parcel on the border of Volnay-Santenots, historically a stone quarry, where the Bonin family replanted old red-grape vines to Chardonnay in 1971.

Domaine Bernard‑Bonin Meursault Clos du Cromin 2023 is a very limited, terroir‑driven Chardonnay from a south‑southeast parcel on the Meursault–Volnay border, vinified in a pure, non‑oaky style focused on tension and minerality.

Style and terroir

Clos du Cromin (often bottled as “Le Pré de Manche”) lies on relatively deep, clay‑limestone soils with excellent drainage, giving generous fruit but kept in check by bright acidity. Véronique Bonin and Nicolas Bernard farm organically, harvest early for freshness and avoid cultured yeasts, enzymes, chaptalisation, fining and filtration, relying mainly on older barrels and minimal sulphur.

Tasting profile (projected from recent vintages)

Recent vintages show a pale golden color with aromas of white flowers, citrus, ripe stone fruit and a touch of hazelnut and vanilla. The palate is typically silky yet vibrant, with concentrated peach and pear, subtle honey, marked salinity and a long, balanced finish; 2023 is expected to follow this line with slightly riper fruit but the same incisive energy.

Positioning and aging

This cuvée is priced high, reflecting its cult status among Meursault collectors. It benefits from several years in the cellar; many merchants suggest drinking 5–8 years after the vintage, with longer aging possible for added complexity.
