Domaine DUJAC Puligny Montrachet Les Folatieres 1er Cru Blanc 2024

Domaine Dujac Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières 1er Cru Blanc 2024 is a white Burgundy from one of Puligny-Montrachet’s most celebrated Premier Cru vineyards. Made from 100% Chardonnay on a limestone-rich southeast-facing slope, it promises the tension, mineral precision and age-worthy structure that define great Folatières, interpreted through Dujac’s refined, low-intervention style.

The Producer

Domaine Dujac is one of Burgundy’s most respected estates, founded in 1967 by Jacques Seysses and now led by the Seysses family. While historically associated with Pinot Noir from Morey-Saint-Denis, the domaine has built an equally serious white-wine programme.

Dujac took over leased Puligny-Montrachet vineyards in 2014, including parcels in Les Folatières and Les Combettes. The estate works with indigenous yeasts, moves wine by gravity and ages its whites in carefully selected oak barrels, seeking precision and terroir expression rather than overt winemaking influence.

Vineyard and Terroir

Les Folatières is one of the great Premier Cru climats of Puligny-Montrachet, situated on the upper slopes just below the Grand Crus. Dujac’s parcel lies at 250–272 metres on a southeast-facing slope with a moderate 10% gradient.

The soil is shallow, brown-red and packed with angular white limestone, while the underlying bedrock is dense, slab-forming limestone. This combination gives Folatières its hallmark tension, chalky minerality and capacity to age gracefully, while the southeast exposure provides both ripeness and freshness.

The 2024 Vintage

The 2024 Burgundy growing season was exceptionally challenging, with unusually high rainfall, cool weather and significant mildew pressure. Flowering occurred in humid conditions, contributing to poor fruit set, while persistent rain complicated vineyard work.

In Puligny-Montrachet, harvesting began on 16 September. Yields were modest—roughly half of the abundant 2023 crop—but the grapes that remained were in very good sanitary condition. The resulting whites are expected to show cool-vintage freshness, crisp acidity and marked minerality rather than tropical richness.

Winemaking and Ageing

Dujac’s whites are handled with the same care as its reds: gentle pneumatic pressing, gravity-fed transfer to the cellar and fermentation with indigenous yeasts. The Chardonnay is aged for approximately 14–18 months in oak barrels.

The domaine selects its barrel wood two years in advance to ensure proper seasoning and quality. The aim is a restrained, layered style in which vineyard character, fine oak and vibrant acidity remain in balance.

Expected Tasting Profile

As a young, unreleased 2024, this wine should be approached as a wine of tension and potential rather than immediate opulence. Based on the vintage and the site, expect citrus, white peach, orchard fruit, white flowers and a pronounced chalky, saline minerality.

Les Folatières typically combines generosity with precision: ripe orchard and citrus fruit, subtle hazelnut and pastry notes from barrel ageing, and a long mineral finish. Dujac’s version is likely to be elegant and finely textured rather than overtly powerful.

Aroma and flavour: citrus zest, white peach, green apple, white flowers, crushed stone, hazelnut, subtle pastry and saline minerality.

Palate: poised and energetic, with bright acidity, fine concentration, chalky texture and a long, mineral-driven finish.

Style: a classic, age-worthy white Burgundy—refined, precise and deeply terroir-focused, with the freshness typical of the 2024 vintage.

Drinking Window

As an unreleased 2024 white Burgundy, this wine is intended primarily for cellaring. It should benefit from several years in bottle after release, allowing its oak integration, texture and mineral complexity to develop.

A realistic drinking window is likely to begin around 2029–2032 and extend for a decade or more, depending on storage conditions and the final balance of the wine. Serve it relatively cool at first—around 11–13°C—then allow it to warm gently in the glass as it opens.

Food Pairing

Once mature, pair it with delicate white fish, scallops, lobster, langoustines, roasted chicken, guinea fowl or veal in a light cream sauce. Its acidity and minerality will also suit fresh goat’s cheese, young Comté and dishes featuring mushrooms, white asparagus or truffle.

Avoid heavily spiced or aggressively smoky dishes, which can obscure the wine’s fine fruit and chalky precision.

Collector Note

This is a highly sought-after allocation wine from a top Burgundy producer working with one of Puligny-Montrachet’s finest Premier Cru sites. Dujac’s Folatières is produced in small quantities, and the 2024 vintage’s reduced yields are likely to make availability even more limited.

The combination of Dujac’s reputation, the exceptional limestone terroir of Les Folatières and the freshness of the 2024 vintage makes this a compelling choice for collectors seeking age-worthy white Burgundy with long-term development potential.

Recommended serving: after several years of cellaring, open and decant briefly—or simply allow it ample time in a large white-wine glass—to reveal its full aromatic and mineral depth.
