Domaine Dujac Gevrey Chambertin Les Combottes 1er Cru 2011

The 2011 Domaine Dujac Gevrey Chambertin Les Combottes 1er Cru is an exceptional red wine from the Burgundy region of France. It displays a deep ruby color and has a bouquet of black cherry, red currant, and blackberry, with subtle hints of earth and spice. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, with flavors of dark fruit, black pepper, and a touch of oak. The tannins are firm but well-integrated, leading to a long and satisfying finish. This wine is a fine example of the terroir-driven approach that Domaine Dujac is known for, showcasing the nuances and complexity of this premier cru vineyard. It is a wine that will continue to develop with age, but can be enjoyed now with decanting.

Vineyard notes

- Les Combottes, a lieu-dit south of the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, lies halfway up the hill, just below the steep incline of Les Monts Luisants, in a steeply sloping area (5–6%). Ranging in altitude from 271 to 282 meters, this lieu-dit faces due east. The soil changes from east to west. In the eastern part of the plot, the reddish-brown soil is 40 to 50 cm thick, containing angular-to-rounded limestone fragments. In the western part of the lieu-dit, the soil is rich in fine angular limestone gravel. The substratum underlying Les Combottes is ocher-colored crinoidal limestone (calcaire à Entroques), rich in debris from marine organisms. To the west, this layer is overlain by bedded limestone scree (grèzes litées), covering the upper part of the slope. This Comblanchien limestone scree is composed of fine angular gravel.
