Thanks to places like this secret restaurant, you can still drink the best wines in Burgundy at absolutely earthly prices, not crazily expensive like in the most famous places of Paris or London. We made a special trip here – such places are worth planning a visit. The food of chef Vincent Rivoncan can only be described in superior terms but the wines he keeps in his cellar and the prices at which he sells them – this is what deserves an even higher praise.

This time we chose the most interesting things possible. We started with Charles Lachoux, which he made in his family domain. This guy is incredibly talented. He knows exactly what he is doing and what kind of wines he wants to make. 2017 is essentially his first independent vintage. It turned out great. The aroma is piercing, and the taste is very balanced. The aroma is dominated by shades of ripe red forest berries, and the taste is dried flowers and red pepper. This is one of the most subtle NSG wines I have ever come across.

This is a vivid demonstration of the greatness of the land in Vosne-Romanee.

We continued with Richebourg 2017 from DRC. And here I would like to say that this is the most monumental and benchmark wine from this domain. This is a vivid demonstration of the greatness of the land in Vosne-Romanee. The aroma is sweet and perfumed, but very concentrated and elegant. In taste, it is a pure thrill.

We finished with Chambertin 2012 from Jean-Louis Trapez. This was already the second league, but the wine still turned out very beautiful. I really like 2012 for its subtlety and structure. Jean-Louis made a quite strict but still expressive wine.
