New Pauillac “black pearl” – Grand‑Puy‑Lacoste 2025 engraved futures

We are opening a new En Primeur offer on a Pauillac that many collectors quietly rely on for classic Cabernet structure and long aging: Château Grand‑Puy‑Lacoste 2025, 5ème Grand Cru Classé. This year it comes in a special, fully black, screen‑printed bottle – an engraved look that makes it a natural “black pearl” in any serious Bordeaux collection.

Grand‑Puy‑Lacoste is a long‑standing, family‑run estate with 63 hectares of vines in a single block, with woodland at its center and a vineyard layout that has remained essentially unchanged since the 1855 classification. The team has been HVE3 certified since 2019 and emphasizes biodiversity, careful viticulture and a sustainable, agro‑ecological approach.

The 2025 vintage marks a turning point: it is the first to be made in the new gravity‑fed winery with 24 small vats, designed to give greater precision in parcel selection while staying true to the classic GPL style. The facility is eco‑conscious, combining a timeless exterior in the middle of nature with a modern, functional interior, and is intended as a “precision tool” that serves the terroir without changing the identity of the wine. First vinification in this new cellar took place in September 2025.

Climatically, 2025 at GPL was a dry year with excellent sanitary conditions, a fast and even growing cycle, historically early picking (September 4th–18th) and low yields of around 30 hl/ha. The final blend, completed in December 2025, is 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot, with an alcohol level of about 13.2%. The estate describes the style as early, precise and rare, combining freshness with a pure expression of the Pauillac terroir.

From the early notes available, 2025 Grand‑Puy‑Lacoste is very much in line with the great vintages of the property: structured, deep and refined, with classic Pauillac character. Critics highlight its balance of power and finesse, precise fruit and long ageing curve:

  • James Suckling (96–97 pts): “It’s fresh and precise.”

  • Wine Advocate (95–97 pts): “A classic Pauillac, structured and direct.”

  • Jeb Dunnuck (94–96 pts): “It’s up there with the top vintages of this cuvée, and it doesn’t get more Pauillac than this.”

  • Neal Martin (94–96 pts, 95 at Fine+Rare): “This is a complete Pauillac that is going to give immense pleasure,” with a projected drinking window into the 2050s–2060s.

Beyond the technical interest, the special black, screen‑printed bottle makes this 2025 release a natural choice as a gift or keepsake for a birth year, wedding, anniversary or any other milestone – especially for collectors who appreciate both classic Pauillac and thoughtful presentation.

Allocations for this engraved 2025 Grand‑Puy‑Lacoste are limited and offered on a first‑come basis.
