iDealwine’s 2026 auction barometer confirms that Burgundy remains the leading region by value in its online sales, even as average prices for the region have retreated from earlier peaks.
As reported by Wine Industry Advisor, iDealwine’s latest Barometer analyzes more than 300,000 bottles sold at auction, totaling €33.9 million in 2025. Within that dataset, Burgundy ranks as the number one region by value and second by volume, with the highest average bottle price at €212—a figure that still reflects strong demand even after a 15% contraction in average price for the region.
The report highlights that while Bordeaux, Italy and Champagne also represent significant shares of auction turnover, Burgundy continues to set the pace when it comes to headline prices and collector focus. For buyers, the Barometer’s numbers suggest that 2026 offers more measured entry points into top Burgundy than the frothiest phase of the last cycle, without signaling a collapse in interest.
